Heritage Council award for local Mount Temple community group

A notable success has been achieved in recent times by the Mount Temple Holy Trinity Graveyard Group as it was announced as the winner of the Heritage Council’s award for County Westmeath, its production of Hatton's Forge in Baylin giving just cause for the attaining of the accolade.

"This is a great acknowledgement for the voluntary work that the group has undertaken over the past number of years and it provides an incentive for them to progress further highlighting our rich heritage throughout the area.

"In particular, I am delighted for the Hatton family to be recognised in this way and I am grateful to Ernie and Betty for allowing the production to take place in their home. Both Ernie and George are so informative and knowledgeable about the skill of the blacksmith and we thank them for sharing this with us.

"This project was kindly funded by Creative Ireland and Westmeath County Council and was delivered by the professional expertise of Bailey and Blake Visual Productions and Gort Archaeology. The group uses it online Facebook Page entitled ‘’Mount Temple Baylin Heritage Group’’ to share its work," Chairman of the Group, Cllr Frankie Keena, said.
