Heartlands Nursing Services a most welcome blood collection initiative

An innovative health care service which enables the drawing and collection of blood from patients within a residential setting has been established by Kiltoom resident, Mary Hanafin.

Reflecting upon the persistent presence of Covid-19 within the Midlands community, Heartlands Nursing Services affords patients the opportunity to have their bloods taken by a trained phlebotomist within the comfort of their home, nullifying the need of a trip to their local GP.

Noticing a demand for such a service prior to the impact of Covid-19, Mary states that with the virus now prevalent, demand for use of the blood collection service is on the increase.

"There is a big demand for blood collection home calls at this time, particularly with Covid-19 being so prevalent. Patients who wish to use the service must request a form from their GP, consultant or hospital, make contact with Heartlands Nursing Services and one of our trained nursing and phlebotomist team will visit their residence to draw and collect a blood sample. The blood sample is then delivered to the laboratory for testing, the results of which are forwarded back to the requesting doctor," Mary comments.

With a wealth of experience within the healthcare industry, Mary holds a degree in intensive care and following a seven year working stint in Melbourne, Australia, where she worked in intensive care and within the community, she returned to Ireland to commence work in the Midlands community with a private medical company She also worked as a practice nurse in a private GP surgery.

As a trained phlebotomist she has attained vast experience in this particular health care sector and is encouraging those patients who wish to avail of this innovative initiative to call 0894147625 or email [email protected] for further information.
