In Ireland, Opel has announced details of its ‘Take Charge’ offer, which it says is a motor industry first here.
The offer invites customers to register a new, all-electric Opel Corsa-e in January 2021 and if they are not happy after six months of emissions-free driving, Opel says it will take the car back.
James Brooks, managing director at Leeson Motors, the importers of Opel cars and vans, says the Take Charge offer is designed for those thinking of switching to electric, who might need a little bit more peace of mind that they are making the right decision.
"We are absolutely confident customers will not be disappointed with the excellent new Corsa-e, and we want to give customers an assurance that in six months’ time, if they don’t love the simplicity of e-mobility, they can opt to come back to their local Opel dealer and drive away in a petrol or diesel Opel model of equivalent value instead. It really is that easy.
“We’ve worked really hard to make the transition to electric as smooth as possible for our customers. Our dealers are equipped with demonstrator models, to allow customers enjoy 24-hour test drives and we’ve ensured we have ample stock on the ground, available for immediate delivery. “
Earlier this year Opel partnered with energy provider Energia to offer customers a free home charger and introduced finance at 2.9 per cent APR. Add these bonuses to the Opel Take Charge offer, and he says, it is an "enticing package" for those drivers thinking of switching to all-electric motoring.
The all-electric Opel Corsa-e, which was crowned Autobest Best Buy Car of Europe 2020, claims a range of up to 337km and fast charging of up to 80 per cent in just 30 minutes.
Available to order now, it is on offer in ‘SC’ and ‘Elite’ trims and retails from €26,814 and €30,150, respectively, inclusive of SEAI grant and VRT relief.
Opel says the Corsa-e SC trim offers a huge array of standard features, including a colour touchscreen with navigation, DAB radio, Apple Car Play/Android Auto, USB connections, lane departure warning with lane assist, speed sign recognition, automatic emergency city braking, hill assist, cruise control with speed limiter, LED headlights, 16 inch alloy wheels, high beam assist, automatic wipers and headlights, rear parking sensors, electric parking brake, electronic climate control, and keyless start.
It adds that easy-to-understand vehicle data is displayed on the seven inch digital instrument cluster to keep the driver fully informed on battery status and energy usage.
