Ballinasloe Town Band to enthral with a duo of live weekend performances

Although the Great October Fair has been cancelled due to Covid-19, the Ballinasloe Town Band will perform a live concert of popular favourites in St Michaels Square at noon on Saturday, October 3 and Saturday, October 10.

The band asks that listeners on the day keep a physical distance and observe the health and wellness guidelines.

The Band continued its Social Outreach Programme hosting its eighth performance at nursing homes with an outdoor recital at the Portumna Retirement Village in recent times.

The concert of well known tunes, ‘When Irish Eyes Are Smiling’, ‘New York, New York’ and the theme from ‘The Sunday Game’ to mention just a few, was well received by the residents at the retirement village. The Town Band expects to return to this activity after the fair week.

In the meantime the refurbishment of the Town Band Hall (Parochial Hall ) continues with the roof repairs being undertaken this week. The roof was damaged by Storm Ellen in the recent past.

The support for the ‘Raise the Roof’ campaign is much appreciated by the Band and it hopes to have the hall reopened before the end of the year.

You can support our campaign by buying a slate for €50 from any member of the band or visit our GoFundMe page.
