Tubberclair and Moate striving to achieve football championship success

Seeking a swift return to the Westmeath Intermediate football playing echelons, Tubberclair will be hoping it is an occasion to remember when they contest the Junior football championship final in TEG Cusack Park, Mullingar, on Saturday afternoon.

Undefeated in their championship campaign to date, during which comprehensive round robin phase victories over final opponents, St Lomans and St Josephs, were achieved, Martin McCabe’s charges are in a positive frame of mind following their two point victory over The Downs in the semi-final of the competition and will be eager to ply their playing attributes at a higher championship grade next year.

Meanwhile, Moate All Whites are one game away from a return to senior football championship status, fellow South Westmeath club, Tang, providing the opposition in the Intermediate final, a game which will also take place in TEG Cusack Park, Mullingar, on Saturday afternoon.

Akin to Tubberclair in the Junior football championship, Moate All Whites have yet to taste defeat on their championship journey to date, defeating Ballymore and Bunbrosna in the group phase of the competition.

The All Whites accounted for Milltownpass with a comprehensive display in their final four fixture and will be hoping to perform to optimum levels in the showpiece occasion on Saturday, the prize for which is a tilt at the Flanagan Cup in 2021, silverware they last annexed in 1997.
