New Hyundai Santa Fe will feature plug-in hybrid engines

Hyundai has revealed their new Santa Fe, which will be available from September 2020 with hybrid and plug-in hybrid engines.

It is the first Hyundai model in Europe to be based on the all-new third-generation vehicle platform. Overall, the new Sante-Fe promises to deliver improved performance, greater efficiency and improved safety.

The new powertrains offer the option of a hybrid and plug-in hybrid powertrain for the first time, and the new Santa Fe features a bold and distinctive new design as well as a range of new technology and safety features.

“We modernized the New Santa Fe with premium features and appealing aesthetics that are sure to add value. The bold lines that extend from one side to the other and from front to back give Santa Fe a rugged yet refined look that SUV customers want. Besides, we have added numerous features and functions to create a truly family-focused SUV that is a pleasure to drive,” SangYup Lee, Executive Vice President and Global Head of Hyundai Design Center, commented.

The front end design stands out through its distinctive wide grille shape, embracing the main headlamp units. Unique, T-shaped LED Daytime Running Lights (DRLs ) make it unmistakable. Wider wheel arch claddings and new alloy wheel designs, including a 20-inch option, reinforce thestrong character of the new Santa Fe.

At the rear, the new taillight design with horizontally-stretched graphics visually reinforces the width of the body. A red reflector band has been added to connect the taillights.

For the first time, the Santa Fe is reported to be also offeed with an optional Luxury Package. The trim’s exterior includes a dedicated 20-inch wheel design and front and back lower bumpers and side cladding which match the body paint colour, rather than matte black.

Hyundai claims that the new Sante-Fe’s interior provides more space, comfort, and convenience compared to the previous model. It features a new lower dashboard design, a redesigned centre console and a new 10.25-inch AVN touchscreen.

Also new, for the first time, the new Santa Fe comes with a Terrain Mode selector: a control knob located in the centre console to conveniently switch between different drive modes.

More details on the new Santa Fe will be released closer to the vehicle’s market launch this autumn.
