Collective spirit to the fore as Garrycastle GAA host fundraiseresty Spring lamb with cannellini beans a must this Easter Sunday

The collective spirit of the Garrycastle GAA community was to the fore this past weekend as club members gathered in unison to complete ‘Timpeall Na Tire’, a fundraising initiative which raised much needed monies for both Athlone Meals and Wheels and Croí.

Over a two day period, participants, walked, jogged and cycled a total of 7,388kms, in the process exceeding their initial goal target amount of €10,000.

With clement weather prevalent, club members donned their green and red colours with a determined sole focus of achieving and surpassing the fundraising target.

Speaking following the event, senior footballer, Doron Harte, who, in tandem with Sarah Dolan, devised the fundraising initiative, lauded the fulsome support of the weekend event.

“A massive thanks to all who participated in any manner over the course of the two days. The level of support for the club’s fundraising initiative was phenomenal and it was great to see so many familiar faces uniting for two great charitable causes.

“The monies raised will make a significant difference to both Athlone Meals on Wheels and Croí as they strive for much need funds during such unprecedented times,” Doron remarked.
