On Monday, April 13, Athlone Golf Club lost one of its most cherished members in Bree Meagher (nee Guinnane ).
A very proud ‘Galway girl’, Bree loved spending time with her family and had a passion for travelling, exercising, reading, gardening, golf and bridge. She had a bright and energetic personality with a great sense of loyalty and compassion for others.
Athlone Golf Club were very fortunate to have known Bree for over 35 years as a member and respected trustee. She was a member of many successful teams over the years. A fiercely competitive individual who never gave up and enjoyed immensely winning her own match.
Bree had the highest of standards and expected same in others. She touched many, many lives and her legacy will live on in the hearts and minds of everyone she interacted with in life.
Beloved wife of Dr. Tom and adoring mother of Benita, Justin and Stuart and especially her grandchildren, Sienna, Luke and Savannah. Bree was the centre of her family and loving sister to Connie, Marian, Imelda, PJ and Gerard. Our sympathies go out to all her extended family and friends.
She will be sadly missed on our fairways and greens. May she rest in peace.
