Moate Golf Club suspends all playing activities with immediate effect

Moate Golf Club has announced has announced complete suspension of all playing activities in line with the enhanced COVID-19 restrictions implemented by the Government.

In a statement this week, Moate Golf Club PRO, Andy Dunne, acknowledged with disappointment the news which emanated in recent times.

"While all of us at Moate Golf Club are disappointed that despite our best efforts to remain open to facilitate golf for our members, we have suspended all golf activities until April 19. It is important everyone is aware that the course is completely off limits to all bar essential maintenance staff. We expect all members without fail to observe this enforced closure and we sincerely hope that all our members and their families stay safe during this tragic intrusion into our daily lives.

The club PRO noted the latest brief outlined by the GUI/ILGU.

“All sporting activity in Ireland has now ceased, and all golf clubs in the vast majority of European countries and many other countries worldwide – have also been asked to close. We thank our member clubs for adhering to this recommendation. The last thing the Unions would ever have wanted to do is recommend our clubs to close, but at a time of global emergency, golf must show solidarity with those around us, in our towns, villages and communities across the island.”
