Local prominent family run businesses close to reduce risk to public health

A number of local businesses have closed to reduce the risk to public health and combat the spread of Covid-19.

Two such prominent businesses, namely, Burgess of Athlone and the Shamrock Lodge Hotel made the decision to adhere to Government guidelines as the Coronavirus makes a vast impact on the nation.

Speaking this week, Rosie Boles, Managing Director, Burgess of Athlone, noted that the business would only reopen to the public when save to do so.

“In the global effort to reduce the risk to health, and in line with our government’s recommendations, Burgess of Athlone is now temporarily closed until it is deemed publicly safe to reopen.

“We will help customers if there is urgent requirements by posting, delivering or making an arrangement to collect at Burgess. Those who wish to get in touch can do so via phone on 0906472005 or email on [email protected].

Meanwhile, the family run Shamrock Lodge Hotel have informed patrons of their adherence to Government guidelines in light of the Covid-19 impact.

In a public message, proprietors, Paddy and Alan McCaul and the staff, noted the hotel’s intention to close in the best interest of their loyal customers.

“To all our wonderful customers, patrons and guests, the Shamrock Lodge Hotel will CLOSE TO THE PUBLIC from March 15 until further notice. We are keeping a close eye on developments from the HSE and believe this decision is in the best interests of our customers.

“Our bar and food offerings will also be closed. In order to provide some level of service to those in need, we are still offering take away food for collection from 12pm-9pm Monday to Sunday.
