An evening of musical colour awaits in the Dean Crowe Theatre

A week of enthralling entertainment awaits as Athlone Musical Society grace the Dean Crowe Theatre stage with their production 'Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat.'

Arguably the Society's most colourful production to date, the show opens this Saturday night, February 29 and will perform to musical enthusiasts until Saturday, March 7 (note, there will be no performance on Wednesday, March 4 ).

Obtaining the rights to Andrew Lloyd Webber's award winning classic 'Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat (more commonly called 'Joseph' ) created great excitement among cast and crew alike for this fun and upbeat show, quite a different style to last year's sell out, 'Chicago'!

The story of Joseph is based in the biblical land of Canaan. Joseph, is the favourite son of Jacob. A story of love, redemption and forgiveness. This upbeat family friendly show reminds us all to believe in our dreams and will no doubt have you toe tapping and singing along in no time.

One of the very few musicals in which it is sang in its entirety, the amazing 24 piece children's choir will melt your hearts and the strong vocals of our leading characters 'Narrator' played by Cherise O'Moore and 'Joseph' played by Daniel Ryan will astound you.

The 'brothers and wives' chorus will lift your spirits as their high energy oozes throughout the production and will showcase a 'Megamix' finalé. There are quite a number of well-known songs in this production including, 'Go Go Go Joseph', 'Jacob and Sons', 'One More Angel' (Joe Steiner ), an 'Elvis style' Pharaoh performs 'Song of the King' (Daryn O'Hara ), 'Those Canaan Days' executed by the 'Brothers' (led by Paul McCarrick ) will literally have you holding your breath, while a sultry scene with Potipher's dancers and a Hoedown are to name but a few of the exciting performances that await anticipatory audiences.

Hours of endless work by the committee and production team have been afforded to creating this year’s production both in front and behind the curtain.

A special word of thanks to Alfie Kilduff (Director ), Lea Carroll (Choreographer ), Ger Madden (Musical Director ) and Jonathon Kilduff (Children’s Choir Master ) as well as the backbone of chorus members and children for their commitment and hours of rehearsing.
