All new Nissan Juke continues to exceed expectations

Nissan tells us that the pioneering Juke was originally launched a decade ago and went on to sell close to 10,000 units in Ireland and 1.5 million around the world, carving a new niche for compact crossover SUVs which has been widely copied since.

The new Juke is available in five different grades – XE, SV, SV Premium, SVE and N-Design. The entry-grade XE model will be available from just €21,995 rising to €26,950 for the range-topping fully equipped SVE and N-Design grade versions.

Nissan says that the new model offers the same sense of style and fun together with a suite of advanced technologies, which make the all new Juke is the most connected Nissan car.

It adds that the powertrain is also highly advanced, with a downsized turbo petrol engine which is compact, lightweight, responsive and economical. For the first time the Juke can also be ordered with a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission with paddle shifters or a full auto mode. Together with an all new chassis, it boasts that the new Juke is fun-to-drive, refined and efficient with exceptional safety.

The Japanese carmaker tells us that the all-new Juke has grown up, but still maintains its sense of fun with a contemporary interior and exterior look which will once again set a new standard in the B-crossover segment. It adds that it combines the style of a coupe with a small-SUV stance. This offers a true ‘best-of-all-worlds’ cross which is perfect for the city and beyond.

Despite being all new, the latest Juke retains iconic design features including the signature circular headlamps to give an instantly recognisable face. To give it a new twist and bring the design bang up to date, these lights now feature a Y-shaped LED signature which complements Nissan’s trademark V-Motion grille.

Nissan says that the ‘floating’ roof design and sharply-creased side panel details add a new level of prestige to the JUKE’s look.

Certainly, a range of twenty colour combinations should ensure the new Juke stands out, with matching or contrasting colour combinations for body, roof and interior.

The new model is transformed on the inside as well, with more style, more space, upscale quality and technology. It is roomier for both passengers and their belongings, with rear-seat knee room increased by a claimed 5.8 cm, rear headroom by 1.1 cm, while it says that the luggage capacity grows 20 percent to 422 litres.

For perspective owners wanting to add their own distinctive twist and stamp their individual style, the N-Design grade joins the familiar XE, SV, SV Premium and SVE models in the new JUKE line up and offers the ultimate personalisation package.

For the personalised interior, customers will be able to choose between three combinations to finish the seats, dashboard, door panel and armrest.

Standard on N-Design the imposing 19-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels enhance the exterior with an athletic and dynamic look.

Under the sculpted bonnet is a three cylinder petrol engine which is both efficient and responsive. The 1.0-litre unit is compact and lightweight but features a turbocharger, which Nissan says is to ensure it delivers the responsiveness and fun-to-drive nature owners expect. It produces 117PS and 180Nm of torque (200Nm with over torque function ), an increase of 2PS over the previous model’s 1.6 litre unit. A six-speed manual transmission is standard, while a new dual-clutch automatic is also available for the first time.

Fuel economy has improved, achieving a claimed 6l/100km for manual transmission and 6.1 l/100km for DCT. CO2 emissions are also reduced, starting from 135 g/km (WLTP ) for manual transmission and 138 g/km (WLTP ) for DCT.

A ‘D-Mode’ available from SV Premium allows drivers to switch effortlessly between three modes – Standard, Eco and Sport – to adjust the response of the car depending on the road or the driver’s mood.

Nissan also says that the new Nissan Juke is equipped with a host of advanced driving assistance technologies and infotainment options to make each journey safer, simpler and more enjoyable.

The safety features include Intelligent Emergency Braking with Pedestrian and Cyclist Recognition, Intelligent Cruise Control, Traffic Sign Recognition, Intelligent Lane Intervention, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, and Blind Spot Intervention.
