In acknowledgement of its milestone 21st birthday occasion, the Hodson Bay Hotel hosted a celebratory employee appreciation for Galway Bay Hotel staff members on Sunday, February 9.
As part of the festivities, Galway Bay Hotel’s Managing Director, Dan Murphy, warmly acknowledged each associate who has been part of the journey from the opening of the Salthill promenade located property in 1998 and presented each employee with an award and a 21st anniversary piece of Bog Oak for their commitment and loyalty over the years.
The Managing Director has been an integral part of the Galway Bay Hotel team from day one and was celebrated alongside Ultan Gately, Marian Mulkerrins, Sharron O’Donovan, Deirdre Hartman, Chris Glennon and Chris Flaherty, while Paul O’Hora, Helena Costello and Bridie Dowd were acknowledged in their absence.
Hodson Bay Group Chairman, John O’Sullivan and his wife Mary, were invited to cut a special cake for the occasion when a “reeling in the years” photo collage was played, highlighting some of the Galway Bay Hotel’s many previous milestones, celebrations and special guests over the years.
Addressing the room, John O’Sullivan said this special occasion for the Galway Bay Hotel made him feel “emotional, immensely proud and extremely grateful”.
John recalled standing in a three acre green field overlooking the Salthill promenade and imagining what the Galway Bay Hotel would become.
“Those photos reminded me of the early days, it feels like yesterday. I am so proud and want to express a sincere and meaningful thank you,” John enthused.
