The hotly-anticipated Irwin Ultimate Tradesman Challenge lands on Irish shores with two exciting events taking place in Athlone and Galway this April.
The Athlone event take place at Caulfield Industrial in Moydrum Road on April 21 and the Galway event takes place at Caulfield Industrial in Tuam Road on April 24. Both events start at 9am.
Caulfield Industrial is Irish owned and is one of the largest industrial and tool suppliers in the country, with over 30 years in business and holding over 65,000 stock items.
The Irwin Ultimate Tradesman Challenge is a search to find the best trade professional in Ireland and the UK, and takes place at events between now and October, culminating in an intense elimination final at Interbuild 2009 at the NEC in Birmingham – where a Porsche 911 sports car will be awarded to the grand winner!
The challenge has proved incredibly popular in the UK and trade professionals have flocked to try their hand at a high-pressure timed test of tool skills at trade shows and retail events.
Competitors have to saw a length of wood using the Irwin Jack 880 Triple Ground Saw, mark the wood with the Irwin Square Blade, clamp it using a Quick-Grip XP, and drill four holes with the 20mm Blue Groove Drill Bit and a Metabo corded drill.
Finally, the wood must be placed onto pegs, slotted in a wall tile, and finished off with a 6mm hole from the Cordless Drill Bit. All tradesmen competing will receive an Irwin goody bag, while the overall event day winners will win a Metabo cordless drill, Jobman UTC workwear, and other great prizes, along with an invitation to the final at Interbuild. Finalists at Interbuild will win £1,000 worth of IRWIN tools, as well as a Metabo site radio. Winners at the Irish events will also enjoy free travel and accommodation to the final at Interbuild in Birmingham.
Mike Shaw, Irwin’s trade marketing manager said, “The response to the Ultimate Tradesman Challenge has been incredible. Hundreds of tradesmen have taken part already and it’s generating a lot of excitement. We want tradesmen in Ireland to come forward and demonstrate their skills. Who knows, perhaps this amazing Porsche will be yours!”
