Local Minister of State, Kevin ‘Boxer’ Moran, has welcomed funding announced for the constituency under the Outdoor Recreation Infrastructure Scheme as part of the Government’s Project Ireland 2040 Programme for Rural Regeneration.
The scheme will provide funding for the development of new facilities, and for the maintenance, enhancement or promotion of existing outdoor recreational infrastructure in rural areas across Ireland. The Scheme is administered and funded by Minister Ring’s Department with additional funding being provided by Fáilte Ireland.
The 2019 Outdoor Recreation Infrastructure Scheme (ORIS ) will provide funding for small maintenance and promotion of existing infrastructure (maximum grant €20,000 ) for greenways, walking trails and other outdoor recreation projects, with Portlick forest trail to benefit with from a relevant €20,000 upgrade.
“The scheme plays a vital role in the continued development of our recreational infrastructure which will not only support Ireland’s rural tourism potential, but will also provide a diverse range of recreation options for local communities to support their own health and fitness and enjoy the countryside with their families,” Minister Moran commented.
