Athlone Town Council has issued a reminder to all drivers that from Wednesday August 13 there will be revised traffic arrangements in the town centre.
Mardyke Street (from O'Neill's Bar ), Sean Costello Street from Dunnes Stores west to Mardyke Street (Ulster Bank ), Dublingate Street, Church Street, and Custume Place will all be one-way streets with traffic flowing westwards only towards the Town Bridge.
All traffic travelling eastwards across the Town Bridge must turn left into Northgate Street.
This traffic management system has been approved following a public consultation process and will allow the Council to implement significant environmental improvements along the above streets. Minor works at the various junctions affected by the above changes will be undertaken before the effective date of August 13.
