The formal opening, on Friday morning last, of the Circle K M6 Athlone services station, is a significant and welcome boost for the local economy with the creation of over thirty jobs by Ireland’s largest fuel and convenience retailer.
Located on the M6 motorway between Junctions 7 and 8 in Athlone, the opening, which was performed by Minister of State, Kevin ‘Boxer’ Moran and attended by local dignitaries and Circle K senior management, is part of an overall investment of €35 million by the fuel company into the development of four sites.
Strategically located on the M6 Dublin/Galway Road, it is expected that the new state-of-the-art site will cater for up to 20,000 motorists daily.
The Athlone site, which will be open 24 hours daily, features a seated café area, a WC changing and showering facilities, Wi-Fi, a Fáilte Ireland tourist information point, and extensive parking for customers including truck and coach spaces. A McDonalds restaurant will also be on site.
Circle K M6 Athlone offers a wide range of superb products and services including Circle K’s miles and milesPLUS advanced premium fuels, dedicated pumps for AdBlue and Gasoil customers and fast-charge points for electric vehicles. Also available are Circle K’s high-quality fresh deli food range which includes gourmet sandwiches, pizza and carvery dinners, a fully serviced barista serving Circle K’s own Simply Great Coffee, a wide selection of pastries, as well as its signature flavour range of Froster frozen soft drinks, and soft serve ice-cream.
Speaking about the opening of Circle K M6 Athlone, Gordon Lawlor, Managing Director of Circle K Ireland, noted that the company looked forward to catering for the swathe of customers who use the motorway on a regular basis.
