Verge trimming a necessity to address road safety issues

Fine Gael South Roscommon Athlone LEA Councillor, John Naughten, is to raise the need for verge trimming amid concerns for the safety of road users at the next meeting of Roscommon County Council.

“I am seeking to ensure that the Council provides adequate funding for verge trimming throughout the summer months.

“This is particularly important on the local road network where junctions and bends are seriously overgrown with vegetation and noxious weeds and are in urgent need of attention to ensure the safety of motorists, pedestrians and cyclists.

“This situation needs to be addressed urgently and I will be raising the matter at the first opportunity,” Cllr. Naughten emphasised.
