Inclement weather fails to dampen Tubberclare running spirits

Despite inclement weather conditions with incessant early summer rainfall prevalent, large numbers graced the starting lines of the respective five mile and five kilometre races in aid of Tubberclare National School on Thursday evening last.

An annual event, this was the fifth hosting of the perennially popular race which sees runners from the locality and the extended Midlands region descend upon the community to test their fitness levels on a suitably testing course, dotted with gradual inclines throughout.

Walkers too, formed part of the entrant numbers and those threading camber in a leisurely manner were notable by their presence as proceedings commenced under the unfortunate grey skies.

The by now famous post running refreshments in the national school suitably nourished the sodden runners as thoughts turned the hosting of the event in 2020.
