Golden Island Shopping Centre placed on the property market

Golden Island Shopping Centre, has been placed on the property market, with the hugely popular retail destination in the heart of Athlone expected to sell for a sum in excess of €41 million.

Originally developed in 1996, the 23 year old centre has been listed for sale just over three years after its current owners, Credit Suisse, acquired it from British supermarket giant Tesco, for €43.5 million, as per a recent report in The Irish Times.

Presently anchored by retail giants, Penneys and Tesco and the IMC Cinema, Golden Island Shopping Centre features over 40 units including international brands, namely Boots, Argos and Burger King, with 1000 car parking spaces available to customers.
