Athlone Arts Group are hosting an exhibition of new works in the Athlone Library atrium at the civic centre from Thursday, April 25. Westmeath County Council has made this exhibition space available for local artists to exhibit their work. It complements the Luan Gallery perfectly and affords local artists a platform to exhibit their work to the public at large.
The title of the exhibition, 'Art makes us get up in the Morning', denotes the passion of these local artists who are exhilarated with the thoughts of working towards this new exhibition. The process involved conjuring up the subject matter, the execution of the drawing, choice of medium and the finished work. All this is very satisfying for the artist, with the ultimate goal being the display of works in a public exhibition, the ultimate judges of their work.
This exhibition will be a feast for the eyes and hopefully it will strike a chord with the viewers. On offer will be paintings, drawings, prints, oil, acrylic, watercolour, pencil, pen and ink.
The official launch, to be performed by Pat Gallagher, CEO, Westmeath County Council, of this local artists exhibition takes place this evening in the Athlone Library atrium at 6pm.
