Stetson and stillettos to the dancefloor fore at the Radisson Blu

The combined fundraising efforts of Pieta House and Athlone Community Radio came to the dancefloor fore on Monday night, as the Radisson Blu Hotel Athlone hosted a night of live country music entertainment.

John Madden, Chairman of the Board of Directors at Athlone Community Radio, spoke of the ongoing need to fundraise and praised the work of their partners on the night, Pieta House.

“Over the years, fundraising has been ongoing through table quizzes, art sales and small shows but with a lot of graft, promotion and marketing the station proved itself, on Monday night, as being a force to be reckoned with when it comes to event management and entertainment value.

“The night was held as a joint fundraiser with Pieta House, a charity so dear to us all. Notably, Pieta will be gearing up soon for the annual ‘Darkness into Light’ walk so hopefully the money raised will give them a head start on raising those all-important funds that help so many when they are at their most vulnerable,” John remarked.

Station manager, Irena Cvetkovic stated that she was “humbled by the huge success of the night” and acknowledged the “trojan work” of all involved in its creation from start to finish paying particular attention to the work of Deirdre Hunt and David Smyth who were the architects of the spectacle.

Gerard Tiernan of Pieta House expressed his gratitude to the acts and those who had given their time to make the night the success that it was.
