Property prices in Westmeath have risen by €11,000 in the last year, according to the latest MyHome.ie Property Report in association with Davy.
The report for Q1 2019 shows that the median asking price for a property in the county now stands at €180,000. While this was up only marginally (0.03 percent ) from the previous quarter, it is 6.5 percent ahead of this time last year when prices stood at €169,000.
This means that property prices in the county are now at their highest level since they stood at €190,000 in Q3 2011.
The rise in prices was reflected in the asking price for a three bed semi-detached house in the county. While they were unchanged from the previous quarter at €175,000, they are still up 10 percent on this time last year when prices stood at €159,000.
The asking price for a four bed semi-detached house in Westmeath was up 1.2 percent in the quarter from €212,475 to €215,000. This contributed to an annual increase of 10.3 percent with prices now €20,000 ahead of this time last year at €195,000.
The number of properties for sale in Westmeath on MyHome.ie was down 3.3 percent in the last quarter but was up 35.1 percent on this time last year.
