Celebrate the national feast day with guided tours of Athlone’s noted tourist attractions

Athlone Castle and Luan Gallery have announced that visitors can avail of guided tours at both sites this St. Patrick’s weekend, with the gallery offering free guided tours throughout the day on the national feast day, Sunday, March 17.

UNTITLED [landscape] is a touring exhibition which is currently on display and was arranged by the Office of Public Works ROI and the Department of Finance NI. This exhibition features twenty nine contemporary artists who have explored the topic of landscape in their work through a wide range of two dimensional media.

Athlone Castle and Visitor Centre will re-open to the public on Saturday, March 16, just in time for St. Patrick’s Day, after a period of closure since February 27, allowing the Office of Public Works to begin carrying out essential restoration work on the castle walls.

Athlone Castle is offering all visitors a ten percent discount on admission prices this St. Patrick’s weekend, with guided tours of the Castle Visitor Centre to take place at 1pm on Sunday, March 17. The castle guided tour is included in price of admission. Booking in advance is advised as there are limited spaces for the guided tour on a first come, first served.
