Fine Gael general secretary, Tom Curran, has announced that Cllr Mark Cooney and Cllr John Dolan are to join the party’s local election team for Westmeath County Council in the Athlone Local Electoral Area.
Councillors Cooney and Dolan have been added to the ticket by the party’s executive council and join outgoing councillor, Joe Whelan and Gabrielle McFadden.
Fine Gael national director of elections, Frank Flannery said, “Mark Cooney and John Dolan are superb public representatives with excellent political credentials who will boost the party’s hopes of success in the Athlone electoral area.”
