Sharon Shannon returns to Roscommon Arts Centre with traditional live show

Following a sell out show at Roscommon Arts Centre in 2018 and the recent release of her new album ‘Sacred Earth’, Sharon Shannon makes a welcome return to the Arts Centre stage on Saturday, February 16 at 8pm.

Sharon is a musician who likes to surprise. While known for her arrangements of traditional Irish tunes and Irish influenced compositions, she has always been eager to explore new styles and to meet and work with other musicians. The renowned button accordion player from county Clare grew up in a rural community and was part of a family that all play musical instruments and traditional Irish music.

She has recorded and toured with a 'who's who' of the Irish and global music industry, including Bono, Adam Clayton, Sinead O’Connor, Jackson Browne, John Prine, Steve Earle, the RTE Concert Orchestra, The Chieftains, The Waterboys, Willie Nelson, Nigel Kennedy, Alison Krauss and Shane MacGowan.

Her twelve studio recorded albums to date have all been very different and groundbreaking mixing traditional Irish with reggae, country, Native American, bluegrass, rap, dance, African, French and Canadian. Her album 'Galway Girl' went four times platinum in Ireland with the title track winning her the Meteor award two years running for the most downloaded song. Her subsequent debut album was released worldwide and was to become the biggest selling record by a traditional artist in Ireland.

Tickets for Sharon’s performance at the Arts Centre are selling fast but there are limited tickets available from box office on 09066 25824 and from roscommonartscentre.ie
