Students of the Adult Learning Centre in Monksland, part of Galway Roscommon Education and Training Board, celebrated their educational achievements at a well attended formal festive gathering in the community.
Galway Roscommon Education and Training Board has a commitment to lifelong learning and provides a wide range of part-time educational opportunities for adults across the county. The Further Education Services works closely in partnership with relevant local community organisations and statutory agencies to deliver a wide range of courses and projects.
Now, more than ever, people are considering their educational options, learning a new skill, or doing a course to gain qualifications or as preparation for employment. A new skill learned is a skill for life that you can use to help you find work, further your career or for personal fulfillment.
QQI Level 5 Healthcare Certificates were presented to students in the centre who have completed the full major award and some component certificates. Certificates of attendance were also presented to students for English classes for beginners, English classes for improvers, computers/introduction to IT and digital skills courses.
All students have enjoyed the lifelong learning process bringing them into the wonderful world of IT and blended learning. Two former students also spoke at the ceremony about their experience of attending the courses and the difference it has made to them in their lives and for gaining employment.
The courses are co-ordinated by Caroline Naughton with the help of tutors Erik Wilson, and Stephen Devaney and the Further Education Service managed by Irene Greene, Adult Basic Education Organiser. Irene paid tribute to the effort that adult students had shown during the year resulting in their achievement of QQI Certification. She also mentioned the enthusiasm of Caroline Naughton and the tutors in creating such a welcoming community of learning to students, and for their help and support in facilitating the students who have taken that step forward to return to education and on the achievement of their awards.
If you would like to take a step back into education, to learn new skills or just brush up the old ones, phone Caroline Naughton on (087 ) 0645938.
You will receive a warm friendly welcome into small informal classes and maybe next Christmas you will be joining in the fun and celebrating your award.
