Dun na Si Amenity and Heritage Park, the perennially popular recreation location for families to visit in Moate, has been allocated €52,000 towards the upgrade of park fencing, electric supply and lighting as part of the latest outdoor recreation infrastructure funding announcements, it has been confirmed.

Welcoming the positive news, Minister Kevin ‘Boxer’ Moran noted that almost €1m had now been committed to relevant projects within his political constituency to date.

“I wish to thank Minister Ring following this announcement for approving these projects for my constituency as they are a vital funding stream for the locality,” Minister Moran commented.

Under the same initiative, Deputy Denis Naughten TD, has fervently welcomed the allocation of €199,000 towards the construction of a new trail in the townlands of Monksland and Bealnamulla as part of the Cross River Walkway project.

The allocation was also warmly received by local elected representative, Cllr. John Naughten.

“The project relates to the construction of a riverside walk along the bank of the Cross River to facilitate fishing as well as running and walking in the area. It is a naturally beautiful area and the addition of a walkway along the Cross River will be a welcome amenity,” Cllr. Naughten enthused.
