Green Party leader, Deputy Eamon Ryan was present in the Dean Crowe Theatre on Friday last as he launched the local elections aspirations of Mount Temple native, Louise Heavin.
With the local elections set for a May 2019 date, Louise Heavin will be the Green Party representative for Longford Westmeath and the Athlone area. She is an experienced architect and has spent the past six years working on a variety of housing, education and community projects.
She grew up in Mount Temple and is now a resident of Athlone. She is passionate about the midlands and has been active on issues such as mental health, sustainability, repeal of the eighth amendment and the 'shop and drop' campaign which focuses on plastics reduction.
Speaking during her campaign launch, Louise commeted, “I’m really happy to have launched my campaign in Athlone and delighted to have the opportunity to contest the local elections. I am passionate about issues such as sustainable housing and town planning and I feel I can make a real contribution on these issues. I look forward to working with the people of Athlone to deliver a sustainable future.”
Her priorities include sustainable housing, protecting our environment, better transport facilities and local amenities and education equality.
