Westmeath library service has launched a new initiative in Athlone which supports families on their visits to the library. When children visit the library they can be overwhelmed by the noise, the colours and the activities, with parents occasionally feeling under pressure from other people’s expectations.
During ‘Me and My Library Hour’, Athlone public library welcomes children of all abilities and boasts the resources to help children cope and understand in this environment.
Families are invited to drop in, pick some books, build some blocks, cuddle up to a soft toy and don’t be afraid of being understood.
‘Me and My Library Hour’ takes place each Tuesday night at 6.30pm.
