The Green Party will run a candidate in the local elections of May 2019 with Louise Heavin the chosen nominee for the ecologically minded political party.
Her campaign is set to launch this Friday, December 7, in the Dean Crowe Theatre, Athlone.
An experienced architect, Louise has spent the past six years working on a variety of housing, education and community projects. She grew up in Mount Temple and is now a resident of Athlone. She is passionate about the Midlands region and has been active on issues such as mental health, sustainability, repeal of the eighth amendment and the ‘shop and drop’ campaign which focuses on plastics reduction.
Speaking prior to the campaign launch, the local election candidate commented, “I’m really excited about launching my campaign in Athlone and I hope to be a strong green voice in the midlands on a range of issues. Working as a Councillor will allow me to influence important issues such as sustainable housing and town planning, which I am passionate about and have particular experience in. A sustainable future is a prosperous one for all and I look forward to working with the people of Athlone to deliver such a future.”
Her priorities include sustainable housing, protecting our environment, better transport facilities and local amenities and education equality.
