Following an extensive audition process, Athlone Musical Society has announced the cast for Chicago, their 2019 production, which will take to the stage at the Dean Crowe Theatre from March 2-9, 2019.
Set in roaring twenties Chicago - the film of which attained six oscars in 2003, vaudeville wannabe Roxie Hart murders a faithless lover and convinces her hapless husband, Amos, to take the rap until he finds out he’s been duped and turns on Roxie.
Convicted and sent to death row, Roxie and another “Merry Murderess,” Velma Kelly, vie for the spotlight and the headlines in search of the American Dream’ - fame, fortune and acquittal.
The infamous murderesses Velma Kelly and Roxie Hart will be played by Heather Doyle and Kori Kilduff. Their calculating lawyer Billy Flynn will be played by Kieran Kilduff, while the ‘Mistress of Murderers Row’, Matron Mama Morton will be performed by Petrova Mulvey.
Rehearsals are presently underway and the oldest musical society in the country are looking forward to presenting another successful production in 2019!
