An Post Coosan facility set to reopen for business

The old An Post sorting office in Coosan, Athlone, has been the subject of much talk in recent years, where a number of proposals were tabled regarding its future.

Now, according to Cllr. Aengus O’Rourke, the old sorting office will soon be brought back to life by An Post and used as an overflow facility for An Post parcels, an area of An Post’s business that is growing rapidly for the company.

“Following contact with An Post in recent weeks, I am delighted now to confirm that the facility is about to be refurbished and will once again see workers pass through the gates on a daily basis from November. The facility was the subject of some personal criticism in recent years due to the untidy ‘look’ of the site.

“However, cleaning works, both internally and externally, which are much needed, are to commence on the grounds of the facility with An Post envisaging that up to twenty people will be employed initially and hopes to grow these numbers in the future.

“I want to thank and compliment Athlone management for securing the necessary commitment from An Post at head office level to re-open the Coosan facility,” Cllr. O’Rourke remarked.
