Ballycumber native, Simon Casey’s latest song release features the dulcet tones of Hollywood star Patrick Bergin.
Most famous for his role in 'Sleeping with the Enemy', Bergin composed the 'Tipperary Waltz', a stunning and sombre tune to commemorate the centenary of end of the First World War.
'Tipperary Waltz' is set during the time of World War 1, where Patrick’s great uncle had fought in the Somme and came back a shocked and damaged man.
A line in the song, 'the ghosts of the men he shot still haunted him', was a reference to Tipperary freedom fighter Dan Breen who had personally told Patrick’s father about his experiences.
Over the span of four years, the World War 1 had claimed the life of 20 million soldiers and civilians. ‘Tipperary Waltz’ is dedicated to all those fallen heroes.
‘Tipperary Waltz’ is now available to download from iTunes, Spotify and all online stores. The official video will be launched on ‘Simon Casey Music’ Facebook page, tomorrow, Friday, October 12.
