Elevate in Luan Gallery - conversations with the creators

Luan Gallery is delighted to introduce a conversation with the creators event in the Luan Gallery with the adviser of the Arts Council Eamonn Maxwell.

The artists in question include Jesse Jones, Clare Langan and Sonia Shiel and the event will take place Saturday June 30 at 2pm.

The event will be based around the artists and work featured in Luan Gallery’s current exhibition, Elevate, which is a celebration of Irish contemporary art drawn from the Arts Council of Ireland 2008-2018.

Eamonn Maxwell is a former gallery director and exciting curator and is collections adviser with the Arts Council of Ireland. From March 2009 to December 2016, he led Lismore castle arts and transformed it into one of Ireland's most respected art institutions.

Maxwell has extensive project management experience in contemporary visual arts. He has initiated and delivered more than 70 exhibitions and curated exhibitions across the world including exhibitions in Ireland, UK, Italy and UAE.

Curator Katriona Gillespie said, 'a conversation with three artists featured in the exhibition will inspire an engaging and enriching experience with contemporary visual art and provide an insight into the practices of each artist. Elevate presents some of the finest work produced in Ireland in the past ten years and as such, encapsulates the spirit of Irish visual culture.

This event is an ideal opportunity to hear from and speak with three key artists from this period of Arts Council collecting,' added Ms Gillespie.

This in-conversation event will provide the audience with an understanding of the trajectory of the artist’s career with regard to awards, residencies, biennale’s and collections alongside current arts practice in Ireland.

The event is open to the public, and free of charge. Booking is advisable as places are limited. Contact Luan Gallery on 090 6442154 or [email protected] for further information.
