Broadway sensation ‘Chicago’ announced for the Dean Crowe

Athlone Musical Society has announced that it has secured the rights to stage Chicago in the Dean Crowe Theatre next March.

The musical is a sexy satire that follows the story of murderesses Roxie Hart and Velma Kelly and has played more than 7000 performances internationally since opening in 1976.

With hits such as “All that Jazz”, “Cell Block Tango” and “Hot Honey Rag”, this show is sure to thrill audiences of all ages.

Next year will see this production performed by an amateur society for the first time in nearly 20 years. The show has such popularity that it was produced as a movie in 2002, winning a Best Picture Oscar, with Catherine Zeta Jones at the helm.

Following the success of this year’s production Jesus Christ Superstar, the society is delighted to stage this show. Planning is already underway the society will be announcing audition and casting information later in the year.
