A charity concert titled 'Musical Extravaganza', offering a wonderful evening of Broadway and West End musical favourites along will traditional musicians and dancers, will take place on May 26 at 8pm.
The concert came together after the passing of Ballinasloe woman Louise Colohan's grandfather Gus just before Christmas. Louise relocated to the UK five years ago and always wished her grandfather could have seen her perform in one of her productions there. Sadly that was not to be.
Louise’s grandmother Maureen wishes for all the proceeds of this concert to go to East Galway and Midlands Cancer Support Unit, Ballinasloe.
It will be a fun night with exceptional talent on display all to help celebrate the life of Gus Colohan, who really loved music and encouraged so many young people in his life-time, including Louise.
The concert will see many award-winning and talented performers come together from various musical societies, including Ballinasloe Musical Society, where Louise took her first leading role.
Other performers include Ballinasloe Town Band, Stephen Macken, Sarah Corcoran, Conor Hanley, Heather Colohan, Patrick Byrne, Enda McGrath, Emma Greally, Hannah Moore, Ben Birkett, Monica Naughton, Sarah Clogher School of Dance, In Step Stage School and David Colohan.
Award-winning musical director Shane Farrell will take up the baton and conduct live musicians and his newly formed choir, 'Bravo'. MC for the evening is Ballinasloe funny man Pat Vaughan.
The Colohan family are incredibly thankful to all that have helped Louise get this production to the stage, and are so happy that they can help this charity.
Louise has had great success since she left the Irish shores, picking up numerous awards for both her on stage performances and for her direction of productions.
"I am thrilled to be coming home to perform after five year break from an Irish stage," said Ms Colohan.
Tickets can be purchased at J&S Photo’s, Society Street, Ballinasloe or at www.ballinasloetowhall.com
