Roscommon County Youth Theatre is preparing to take to stage at Roscommon Arts Centre this April with their performance of the Greek tragedy, The House Of Oedipus.
Written by Anna Galligan and directed by Catherine Sheridan, this epic Greek tragedy follows the story of one man’s family who are doomed from the beginning.
Bringing four Greek tragedies together, this full-length play brings us three generations, two countries, five kings, two plagues and one war.
We meet the unknowing Oedipus who kills his father and marries his mother with dire consequences, not only for himself but his whole family.
There is his brother-in-law, Creon, who professes not to want the crown, but his actions say different. Then Antigone, that famous heroine, who walks to her death strong in her convictions that her actions were true.
There are two school matinee performances taking place on Thursday and Friday, April 19 and 20, at 11am. There are also evening performances taking place on Friday and Saturday, April 20 and 21, at 8pm.
Tickets are available from box office on (090 ) 6625824 or by visiting www.roscommonartscentre.ie
