Under-16 cyclist Francis Sheridan, who is having a brilliant year on the bike, won the overall league title with two impressive performances in the final rounds. Francis lives in Shramoor and usually has the longest drive to get to races but this didn’t deter him from travelling or winning. This is the third year of the league and the first time a Westport cycling club member won.

TWO local martial arts fighters made a powerful impact on spectators at the Rumble in Rush 3 tournament in Dublin recently. The relatively new sport features bouts between fighters from a variety of martial arts backgrounds. The athletes square off in an octagonal shaped ring enclosed in a wire mesh cage. Contests only end via knock out, submission, or judges’ decision.

The superstars of wrestling will clash in a steel cage challenge in the Royal Theatre on Monday May 3. Two men enter the cage, one will win, and neither will ever be the same again. Entering the ring in this high octane event will be the world renowned superstar Joe E Legend, the top British star Andy Boy Simmons, and heavyweight champion Delicious Dunkie D. Other stars to take to the ring will be the seven feet monster Massacre, the high flying sensation Shawn Maxer, the seductive Rachelle St Claire, and the mysterious Omen.
