More than 1,000 people took part in a three mile march last Sunday to highlight the Government’s failure to provide necessary services through the medium of Irish in the Gaeltacht.

Conradh na Gaeilge has welcomed the announcement that Rónán Ó Domhnaill has been installed as the new language commissioner this week. However, the organisation has strongly criticised the Government for failing to implement the recommendations of the current commissioner.

The official launch of Seachtain na Gaeilge will take place in the Ballina Manor Hotel, Barrett Street, Ballina on March 1 at 8pm with Seán Ó Cuirreáin, language commissioner. All are welcome.
