The Government must come clean on the cost of storing 48 double decker electric buses in Galway that are not operational as there is no planning permission for the charging points needed, Aontu’s candidate in the upcoming by-election, Orla Nugent, has stated.

Galway city's bus services are not "operating at optimal level", with a number of heavily populated areas having no bus service, while other routes have "insufficient capacity at peak times".

Unless there are proper levels of investment in public transport, bus services in the city will continually fail to "keep up with the demand of peak times users".

Menlo and Circular Road must be included in the proposed revised bus routes, as part of the Bus Connects roll out for Galway city, according to Independent Galway City Central councillor, Mike Cubbard.
