Galway Advertiser charity fund helping young people across the city and county

There is a small nondescript townhouse on St Augustine Street in the centre of Galway city, it looks the same as many others. But it is not the same, because No 4 is special, and the work which is being carried out there is making a significant difference to the lives of many teenagers and young adults living in Galway.

Try regional specialities of Italy at Trattoria

In many seaside towns both here and afar, there always seems to be one main street filled with souvenir shops, a smattering of dull bars, and some terrible tourist-trap restaurants. In Galway we buck this trend and are lucky enough to have Quay Street, the buzzing heart of Galway’s Latin Quarter. It has medieval architecture, and a pedestrian street for browsing the many quirky little shops full of wooden toys, vintage clothes, and pottery, alongside the quality woollens and Celtic jewellery. The atmosphere in the pubs is fun and friendly, with the sound of music from trad to rock spilling onto the street. You are guaranteed entertainment from buskers and performers, a festival or passing parade, and it is the best place in the city on a sunny evening, when the outdoor seating is packed with tourists and locals engaged in 'people watching' and enjoying all the sights and sounds on our streets.

Ireland’s final property auction of 2014 to be held by DNG Maxwell Heaslip & Leonard

In a response to the demand by investors to purchase investment properties before year end, DNG Maxwell Heaslip & Leonard is working late into the Christmas season and will host its final auctions of the year on December 18. “Traditionally our November auction would be the last one of the year and we would wind down after that, but this year with the capital gains tax incentives, we see an increase in demand from both vendors and buyers so we are responding to this by holding what will be the final property auction of 2014 in the country on December 18,” said Fergal Leonard. With a recent surge in investor activity in the market place, the December auctions are likely to attract similar interest to the November auctions, with well-priced properties proving ever-popular.
