Allen O’Leary, from Headford, is gearing up to face the gruelling Marathon Des Sables 2025, often dubbed the ‘toughest footrace on earth’. This incredible challenge will see him cross the Sahara desert over 11 days, including nine days entirely off-grid with no access to running water, electricity, or modern conveniences. He will carry up to 15kg of food, medical supplies, and sleeping equipment while tackling a 250km course, including a daunting 85km stage.
