Theatre returns to Claregalway again this week with the annual Claregalway Festival of Drama which commences this Saturday March 11 and will see eight of the country’s top amateur drama groups compete for qualification to the All Ireland finals in Athlone and Glenamaddy.

Athlone Little Theatre’s production of Stolen Child by Bairbre Ní Chaoimh and Yvonne Quinn opens this Friday, February 26, at 8pm and runs until Friday, March 4.

Hearing a story on the Gay Byrne radio show some years ago about an adopted woman meeting her birth mother for the first time after 40 years prompted two actors, Bairbre Ní Chaoimh and Yvonne Quinn, into writing a play about separation, loss, and family secrets. They called the play Stolen Child.
