WEEE Ireland, the Irish compliance scheme for electrical and battery recycling have today raised their concerns over the increasing number of ‘non-authorised’ collections and recycling of WEEE being carried out across Galway and the whole the country.

WEEE Ireland and Tesco today announced their schedule of collection of electrical and electronic equipment days for the summer months. Free recycling events are scheduled in the following Mayo stores: Tesco Castlebar on Saturday June 30; Tesco Claremorris and Tesco Ballinrobe on Saturday July 14.

WEEE Ireland held a series of WEEE Wagon collections throughout Mayo during March and April, supported by Mayo County Council. These smaller collection days allowed people from towns and villages across the county to get rid of any household electrical equipment and batteries in a safe and environmentally friendly manner.

However as we bid a fond farewell to the summer months last weekend, WEEE Ireland, the Irish Compliance Scheme for electrical recycling, is reminding the people of Ireland that there has never been a better time to say goodbye your old batteries and small electronic items including clocks and watches and bring them back for recycling.
