The archive of Conradh na Gaeilge, Ireland’s oldest Irish language organisation, has been launched by NUI Galway. The archive, which extends to 600,000 pages of documents, books, photos, and ephemera collected throughout the organisation’s nearly 130-year history, has been fully catalogued and is now available to researchers.

Funding of €15 million has been approved for the transformation of the library at NUI Galway into a state-of-the-art interactive learning facility, which will be the first of its kind in the Irish university sector.

Conradh na Gaeilge has agreed to permanently deposit archival material spanning over a century of its existence, providing an unparalleled insight into linguistic, cultural, social and political aspects of Ireland’s past.
