A host of new events and festivals in Castlebar this year has helped to boost visitor numbers to the county town.

Galway County Council was honoured at the recent Repak Awards during National Recycling Week. WEEE Ireland, the Irish compliance scheme for electrical and battery recycling, selected Galway County Council as a recipient of their Special Merit Award and as a finalist in the WEEE Ireland Best WEEE and Battery Recycling Event Category for their hard work during the year and participation in the WEEE Ireland Collection Programme.

Kilkenny’s St Patrick’s Day Parade theme has been decided and the committee responsible for this year’s event have revealed that the theme this year is ‘Earth Parade’.

Tidy Towns winners had their evening of glory in Emly in south Tipperary, where Minister of State Máire Hoctor presented the them with their prizes at a ceremony held in The Golden Thatch Inn.
