Galway clubs secured a huge medal haul across day one of the Connacht Juvenile Track and Field championships last Saturday, June 6.

The Galway County Juvenile Track and Field Championships took place in Dangan over two days last weekend, with thousands of athletes and spectators in attendance across a packed events programme, with a club-by-club report below.

Athenry AC's Sean Doggett has been selected to represent Ireland at the World Relays in Botswana next month.

Lauren Kilduff of Craughwell AC topped the weekend’s performances by becoming U18 National Champion in the 400m Hurdles and broke the Championship record with a time of 60:33. Clubmate Emma O’Donovan took home bronze in 62.44.

The Connacht Indoor Track and Field championships were held over two days in Athlone Indoor Arena last weekend. Galway clubs travelled in huge numbers and gained a huge medal haul over the 100 plus events on the programme.

Congratulations go to Robert McDonnell, and Andrew Egan of Galway City Harriers for their selection for the upcoming European U23 championships in Finland to be held later this month. Also selected was Aaron Keane who competes with University of Galway. All three are coached by sprint supremo Brendan Glynn of GCH.
