Fr Edward Flanagan, who was born in the west of Ireland, has been declared “venerable” by Pope Leo XIV—a recognition by the Catholic Church that he lived a life of heroic virtue. The declaration marks a major milestone in the long process towards canonisation, leaving him two verified miracles away from being named a saint.

On Friday, July 25, Galway Cathedral will host a special evening of prayer to mark the visit of the relics of Venerable Matt Talbot, in this centenary year of his death.
