PERSONAL BELONGINGS of IRA volunteer Seamus Quirk and Fr Michael Griffin; Bronze Age artefacts from Dún Aonghasa; the myths of the River Corrib; and an exploration of Gaelic Ireland - there is a wealth of local and Irish history to be experienced at the Galway City Museum.

Some of the team from the National Museum of Ireland have been installing a selection of artefacts found during excavations at Dún Aonghasa, Inis Mór, into the MONUMENT exhibition at Galway City Museum over the past week.

The Galway City Museum will reopen its doors to the public on Tuesday July 21 at 10am.

A keynote event on the first day of the inaugural Architecture at the Edge festival will provide an opportunity for architects, planners, designers, creatives and local communities to talk about the shape of our built environment. The half day symposium entitled ‘Placemaking’ will be held on Friday 29th September at the O’Donoghue Centre NUI, Galway. What makes a great place to live? Who is involved in the making of places in which we live, work and play? How can we make more of our public places? These are just some of the questions to be explored at the symposium.
